「軋むストレッチャー」(30分)
落合さんがその病院に勤めていた頃、その病院にはERの設置がなかった。当直医1名、看護師長1名、看護師1名の申し訳程度の深夜救急で大変な激務だった。
霙降るその晩のことを彼女は今も忘れない。勤務について間もない18時か19時頃、担当医が来て「これから1台救急車が来るけど、診断書を書くだけだから」と力なく告げたのだ。診断書とはつまり死亡診断書の事。つまりこれから運ばれてくる患者はすでに息を引き取っているのだ。
準備して待っていると到着したのはまだ19歳の若さで自ら首を吊って自死を選んだ哀れな大学生の男の子だった。©2020 Wataru shirotani
