◎森鴎外（1862-1922）
本名林太郎。石見国鹿足郡津和野町（現・島根県鹿足郡津和野町）生まれ。代々津和野藩亀井家の典医の家柄で、鴎外もその影響から第一大学区医学校（現・東大医学部）予科に入学。そして、両親の意に従い陸軍軍医となる。1884（明治17）年から5年間ドイツに留学し衛生学などを学ぶ。「舞姫」「うたかたの記」「文づかひ」「大発見」「ヰタ・セクスアリス」などに、そのドイツ時代の鴎外を見て取ることができる。その後、陸軍軍医総監へと地位を上り詰めるが、創作への意欲は衰えず、「高瀬舟」「阿部一族」などの代表作を発表する。Public Domain (P)Roundemy Co., Ltd.
