三造は南洋群島を題材とした映画を見た後、
しばしば答えの出ない壮大な不安や想像にかりたてられる事が多くなった。
大人になればそんな事もなくなるのだろうと思ってはいたがそのような事もなく、
女学校の博物学の講師の仕事についている今もなお、
その不安や想像をいだきながら意義のない一日をダラダラと送る日々が続いていた。
中島敦の作品の中でもより哲学的な自己検証をテーマとした奥深い作品となっている
中島敦（なかじま・あつし）
昭和時代前期の小説家。1909年東京生れ。東大国文科卒。
祖父は漢学者中島撫山、伯父にも漢学者が多く、父は中学の漢文教師。
1933年横浜高等女学校の教師となり、かたわら作家を志して習作にはげんだ。
持病の喘息悪化のため、転地療養を兼ねて41年パラオの南洋庁に赴任する。
唐代の伝奇「人虎伝」を素材にした「山月記」が深田久弥の推挽で42年2月の「文学界」に掲載され文壇にデビュー。同年5月発表の《光と風と夢》も好評で以後創作に専念。
パラオ南洋庁書記の職を辞して作家生活に入ろうとしたが、同年12月持病の喘息のために夭折した。代表作に「李陵(りりょう)」「弟子」「光と風と夢」など。©2022 PanRolling
