 1918年に魯迅によって発表された処女作となる短編小説。魯迅は、狂人の日記という形で、当時の中国の封建社会を「人が人を食べる」社会であると批判した。大病を患ったという友人の弟。訪ねてみると、すでに全快して赴任しているといい、兄から病中に書かれたという日記を渡された。内容は支離滅裂ででたらめのようであり、被害妄想狂の類であると見えた。犬の視線から逃れられないでいる。周囲の人間がこちらを見て噂をしている。皆が自分を食べようとしている。短く綴られた日記には、彼が次第に発狂していく様が記してあった。(C)Pan Rolling Literary Fiction World Literature
