About this listen
The Azusa Street Revival (1906-1908) was one of the most influential Pentecostal revivals in history. A tiny African American church in Los Angeles went from unknown to world famous virtually overnight after the Holy Ghost descended upon them. The following years saw some of the most powerful moves of God ever recorded. Angelic visitations, visions, heavenly music, healings, and especially speaking in tongues and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit were the norm.
There have been many volumes written on the miracles and power of the Azusa Street Revival, but there are practically none that focus specifically on what was taught in the Apostolic Faith Mission. That is where 100 Azusa Street Revival Teachings comes in. This book does not focus on the miracles at all, those can be found in the companion piece, 100 Azusa Street Revival Stories, which is part of our larger 100 Stories Series. Instead, in this volume you will find one hundred articles compiled directly from the writings of the Apostolic Faith Newspaper, which was distributed by the Mission throughout the course of the Revival.
While many of the teachings were written by William Seymour himself, there are many that come from other leaders and missionaries of the movement. Some of the teachings are very short, only a paragraph long, others are well developed and in-depth. Others, are straight from the Holy Spirit himself, as members would often speak in tongues, and those tongues would be interpreted as a song or poem, which would then be recorded as a teaching for the newspaper. In listening to this volume, you are sure to be encouraged, set on fire for Jesus, and given an often overlooked glimpse into what the blessed saints of the Azusa Street Revival believed and taught.
