Overly dramatized by the narrator.
While appreciated the narrator’s efforts, the Performance was overly dramatic to the point of distracting the listener.

terrible attempt at writing from woman's pov
I've really enjoyed a handful of James Patterson novels, but this was the first one I've read where he tried to write from a woman's perspective - it's awful! I keep trying to go back to it and instead I end up cringing at his horrible, stereotypical, sexist portrayals of women: Female Investigator - cries at crime scene, coworkers make comments about her 'being a woman;' Female Investigative Reporter is "shocked" and "so surprised at what she's doing" while she's literally only doing her job trying to get the story. The two women characters meet, while at a crime scene, and first thing they think of doing is trying to become friends. It's nauseating! Don't waste your time.
