Publisher's Summary
From The New York Times best-selling author of the smash hit One Second After series comes 48 Hours, a nail-biting and prescient thriller about a solar storm with the power to destroy the world's electrical infrastructure.
In 48 hours, the Earth will be hit by a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun, a "Carrington Event" that has the power to shut down and possibly destroy the world's electrical infrastructure. To try and prevent permanent damage, everything goes dark prior to the hit: Global communications are shut down; hospital emergency generators are disconnected; the entire internet, media broadcasting, and cell phone systems are turned off.
Will the world's population successfully defend itself in the wake of the CME, or will mass panic lead to the breakdown of society as we know it?
William R. Forstchen is at his best in 48 Hours, a tale of the resilience of American citizens when faced with a crisis.

at last a post apocalyptic novel that Make sens
This author is the best apocalyptic writer that Is. The believable scientifically accuracate description of the event is fantastic. I live the fact that you follow the personal president' handling of the situation. Although I was not sure about the rash couple's decision at first, it all turns out to make sens as it finally catch up to them later. The population's reactions are so realistic that I would have take another couple of hour of that

Let’s hope that this is closer to fantasy than to reality
Let’’s hope that this is closer to fantasy than to reality, that it won’t or cannot happen, that humanity includes more generous humans than it does egocentric humans.

Excellent story. Poor narration
The narrator does not do a good job of bringing the story to life. Despite this you will overlook his short comings and continue to listen to learn what happens next. The story is strong enough to keep you listening.

Enjoyable
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I found the story a little hard to follow at times and had to rewind to catch myself up. However I was invested enough to put in the effort because I was enjoying the story and wanted to catch the details I had missed.
The ending was not fully expected which I appreciate.
This was the first novel I have read by Forstchen and I am looking forward to trying another.
I will definitely buy more books narrated by Bronson Pinchot, I think he did a phenomenal job! At first I could just hear Balki but he did such a good job, it was easy to settle in and I enjoyed his narration very much. I enjoyed his accents and female voicing which is a big deal!

Future?
This is a very interesting book. Hopefully it remains fiction and people react more humanely than a lot of these characters.

Morals
it's a good read in a similar vein of one second after but different enough to make it unique. I enjoyed the moral delema and the scenes of hope that had been lost and people finding peace in their own way. Some scenes do drag a bit here and their and believe me when I say you will know what a karaton event is by the end. Overall a well thought and overall good listen.

I loved this book!
A realistic display of how human beings would react facing extinction, scary, but very true.

Fantastic book, makes you think.
Binged listed to this novel, the first I’ve read from this author. As a new parent, the story certainly hits home. Wouldn’t recommend listening late at night if you don’t want to stay awake for half the night dreaming about how you’d react to parts of it.

slow book, but overall decent
The narrator did an annoying British accent that kinda ruined the book for me. It is a slower story, and it took a while to get into it. Didn't expect the ending, but it was good.
The author is Christian so it is expected that religion will play a part in his books.
