About this listen
The Instant New York Times Best Seller
Who has the right to change the world forever? How will we live online? How do we find comfort in an increasingly isolated world?
The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While the robots were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction with only their presence. Part of their maelstrom was the sudden viral fame and untimely death of April May: a young woman who stumbled into the Carls' path, giving them their name, becoming their advocate, and putting herself in the middle of an avalanche of conspiracy theories.
Months later, April’s friends are trying to find their footing in a post-Carl world. Andy has picked up April’s mantle of fame, speaking at conferences and online; Maya, ravaged by grief, begins to follow a string of mysteries that she is convinced will lead her to April; and Miranda is contemplating defying her friends’ advice and pursuing a new scientific operation...one that might have repercussions beyond anyone’s comprehension. Just as it is starting to seem like the gang may never learn the real story behind the events that changed their lives forever, a series of clues arrive - mysterious books that seem to predict the future and control the actions of their readers - all of which seems to suggest that April could be very much alive.
In the midst of the search for the truth and the search for April is a growing force, something that wants to capture our consciousness and even control our reality.
A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is the bold and brilliant follow-up to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. It is a fast-paced adventure that is also a biting social commentary, asking hard, urgent questions about the way we live, our freedoms, our future, and how we handle the unknown.

I’m going to re start this series
I read both books in less than a week and I am obsessed. I already went to reread them it’s not funny. I can’t get enough of it and I want more.

Loved the second as much as the first
I wasn’t sure how it would compare to the first book but I was pleasantly surprised! Really liked how the book was a character perspective per chapter. Well done!

J'ai adoré
J'ai beaucoup aimé que chaque personnage ait son propre narrateur. Ça a rendu l'histoire plus facile à suivre.
Le livre est une métaphore sur le pouvoir de la technologie et des médias sociaux sur notre existance.

engaging but definitely a ya novel
The cast of characters from the first novel is back and I really can't say anything else without giving away spoilers..
two things stood out, one is that this is definitely a young adult novel. although I found the story more engaging and the action more engaging than the first book.
The second thing that stood out is is definitely written from a point of view of Hank Green who is on social media a lot. and maybe it could be because of my age, that while I'm on social media I don't find it important and I switch platforms whenever I want. I'm not locked into one although admittedly YouTube probably sucks up the best of my time.
The actors that perform each chapter did a very good job. as I said the story is more engaging.
one thing that's interesting is the platforms he was talking about are starting to die. youtube seems to be okay but nobody's ever on Facebook anymore except to send your grandmother a happy birthday. most the stuff that comes up in your feeds is AI generated follow me stuff. I kind of wonder if it's going to sell ads to AI users who watch AI generated ads? but that really has nothing to do with this book

This book is soo Hank Green. I love it.
A proper sci-fi romp, at least an order of magnitude better than the first book (which was already quite enjoyable and filled with brilliant ideas). It has it's flaws, but they feel forgivable as the broader themes and story land well.

Amazing!!
If you’re new to audio books this is the one to get! Hanks first book was great and the second was such a joy to listen to. This book was truly made for audio listening with the different characters narrating each chapter it really helped having different voice actors for each person! Absolutely loved the story and the narration cannot recommend this audio book enough!
