About this listen

The Instant New York Times Best Seller

Who has the right to change the world forever? How will we live online? How do we find comfort in an increasingly isolated world?

The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While the robots were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction with only their presence. Part of their maelstrom was the sudden viral fame and untimely death of April May: a young woman who stumbled into the Carls' path, giving them their name, becoming their advocate, and putting herself in the middle of an avalanche of conspiracy theories.

Months later, April’s friends are trying to find their footing in a post-Carl world. Andy has picked up April’s mantle of fame, speaking at conferences and online; Maya, ravaged by grief, begins to follow a string of mysteries that she is convinced will lead her to April; and Miranda is contemplating defying her friends’ advice and pursuing a new scientific operation...one that might have repercussions beyond anyone’s comprehension. Just as it is starting to seem like the gang may never learn the real story behind the events that changed their lives forever, a series of clues arrive - mysterious books that seem to predict the future and control the actions of their readers - all of which seems to suggest that April could be very much alive.

In the midst of the search for the truth and the search for April is a growing force, something that wants to capture our consciousness and even control our reality.

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is the bold and brilliant follow-up to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. It is a fast-paced adventure that is also a biting social commentary, asking hard, urgent questions about the way we live, our freedoms, our future, and how we handle the unknown.

I read both books in less than a week and I am obsessed. I already went to reread them it’s not funny. I can’t get enough of it and I want more.

Loved the second as much as the first

I wasn’t sure how it would compare to the first book but I was pleasantly surprised! Really liked how the book was a character perspective per chapter. Well done!

J'ai adoré

J'ai beaucoup aimé que chaque personnage ait son propre narrateur. Ça a rendu l'histoire plus facile à suivre.

Le livre est une métaphore sur le pouvoir de la technologie et des médias sociaux sur notre existance.

This book is soo Hank Green. I love it.

A proper sci-fi romp, at least an order of magnitude better than the first book (which was already quite enjoyable and filled with brilliant ideas). It has it's flaws, but they feel forgivable as the broader themes and story land well.

Amazing!!

If you’re new to audio books this is the one to get! Hanks first book was great and the second was such a joy to listen to. This book was truly made for audio listening with the different characters narrating each chapter it really helped having different voice actors for each person! Absolutely loved the story and the narration cannot recommend this audio book enough!

I loved it!

But I have loved every book produced by one of the Green brothers thus far.
Hank Green's sequel novel is once again a fun and interesting adventure which plays on metaphors of our current social media world and offers a vision of the future with sci-fi elements of another lifeform on earth. The characters remain realistic in many ways. They are loveable and deeply flawed. They save the world and hurt people along the way.

This is not an very complex novel and you will likely not gain a lot from listening to it, other than many hours of enjoyment if this is the type of thing you like to consume.

The performances were wonderful. I really enjoy productions which are performed by several actors and these actors did not disappoint in their delivery.

All-in-all, I would recommend this story for a younger adult audience and those who are highly involved in social media and the internet.
