About this listen

A famous photographer teaches the meaning of Christmas to the man who invented it…

This is a touching and heartwarming fictional Christmas story about two actual characters from history—the acclaimed American photographer, Robert Cornelius, and the visiting British writer and most famous man in the world, Charles Dickens. Cornelius is credited with shooting the first photograph in history of a human face, in Philadelphia in 1839—one of photography’s greatest milestones. Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has yet to be published.

Charles Dickens passes through town on one of his legendary speaking engagements and does his best to stay undercover and out of the intense spotlight of fame. He and Cornelius cross paths and become friends as they open up to each other about the secrets they’ve been keeping and their heartening hopes for Christmas—past, present, and future. One man communicates with words and the other with pictures. Both men are dealing with the darkness and light of life, photography, and fame. This is a lesson in helping other people in pain by dealing with their own. The local Charles Dickens Ladies Book Club is drawn into the relationship to create an uplifting and unforgettable Christmas. The author uses his love for photographic history and Charles Dickens as a jumping off point for philosophy, humor, and a poignant, happy Christmas.

This book is a wonderful way to keep Christmas all year long, with hope that God blesses us, everyone.
