Publisher's Summary

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn...

What the critics say

"Amid all the Sturm und Drang...is a finely tuned comic strain that both leavens the story and adds to its development. This latest installment of a major fantasy epic definitely will not disappoint its fans." (Booklist)

When considering a new audiobook, one of the biggest questions listeners have is whether they’ll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable as audiobooks span at least a few hours, and sticking with one person’s voice for that period can feel like a big commitment. Luckily, there are so many excellent voice actors performing audiobooks that you might just find yourself gravitating to certain audiobooks based solely on the narrator’s strength.

Poor editing ruins a good book

This recording has a few major flaws. First off there are constant repetitions, something went wrong in editing and you will hear the same sentence repeated multiple times.

More importantly and the reason I'm giving it 2 stars is. An entire page is missing. I know this because it contained one of my favorite bits with mat. 1/2 way through page 412 the first line of a paragraph reads "Faces infinetly calm, infinetly patient. Except..." it then Skips the next 4 paragraphs and jumps to the end of the fourth paragraph on page 413 with "This is the bargain between you and me" It cuts out the entire bit about his using ancient See folk curses and him saying the phrase "I'm the master of the blade and my blades are bare" one of my favorite lines in the Series.

I don't know how many other places where this might of occurred, It would take reading the book while listening to figure out, but I did notice that this section is missing.

Missing part in audio book. #!Please Fix!#

The first 10 pages of chapter 12 are out of place. The audio skips them, and it's naturally a bit confusing, but then they are placed out of order later. The audio has it labeled chapter 14, about halfway through. It was confusing enough for me to check the text online, which confirmed something was missing, & let me read the missing section myself. Later I find the missing section of audio mixed into the next chapter.

Great Performance and story lots of technical issues

I am not sure what happened to this book the story was great but I got numerous editing issues where in the middle of the sentence it would stop and restart from the start of the sentence. It ruined an otherwise great listening experience.

boring middle was manageable, flat ending really sucked.

Now that I have gotten used to the flow of Robert Jordan’s books, I can see that there usually is an interesting setup at the start, slower middle section and then a thrilling ending that tied it all together. This instalment deviated from that formula, but in a disappointing way.

The beginning was interesting, picking up the pieces from a devastating battle, we got to see how the world is recovering from that from different angles. I also liked how the perspective was from non-channelers as well (Perrin, min, savannah, Matt) as we get to see how confusing and frightening channeling really is. I liked the development of Rand and mins relationship. Rand having a confidant that he can trust and can keep close despite the constant danger was nice. The Marty trope of him shutting off Everyone he loved was annoying so I’m glad he got over that.

The middle section Slog wasn’t half bad, elayne and nyneave are best when they’re off on an adventure and get to show off their bravery and cunningness. I also loved seeing them humble the ae sedai and Matt in turn humbling them. The aiel culture around shame is really integrated into the book so well. I also loved all of the sanchen related stuff. That truly is the scariest part of the series. People who can torture and enslave women until they are obedient dogs? Much scarier than any merdrol.

The ending was so disappointing. There was an interesting plot line developed over the last few books that fizzled out terribly. The ending was not nearly as thrilling or terrifying as the last book. Rand makes the same mistake again after it cost him so much in the last book when he went to the camp unprotected. It just sucked especially since I wa expecting the end to be great as per usual.

Not bad

The book is not bad, if you have gotten this far then there is no point saying it’s worth the read because you’re going to read it.
The plot moves at the same pace as the others. My only critique is the same for every book in the series so far, too much “that’s men for ya” or “I don’t understand women”, men this men that, women this women that.

A crown of filler

Not the worst in the series. Good stuff all around but still many of the problems that plague the series, if less than previous outings. It’s less derivative and meandering, but still, the plots keeps being forced along by laughably unbelievable mistakes by characters, and new as if this book, just problems coming out of nowhere without any explanation or reason. I guess the wheel weaves is a one size fits all to do away with logic of any sort. Still entertaining though.

Good but not as good as the last one.

Good but could’ve been better. Rand is still such a fascinating character and chosen one.
