About this listen

A funny, fabulous, cozy mystery filled with quirkiness and a sweet serve of lesbian romance.

Bess Campbell has escaped to the windswept Australian coastal town of Port Bannir, determined to begin her life again. She is loving her fresh start, thanks to her fun job running a hip gallery, her territorial chickens, and a lot of self-help books to find her new, better self.

Port Bannir local Margaret Gale runs an austere maritime museum, and rules her staff with an iron fist. She has no time for that crazy modern gallery or upbeat, earnest Bess sweeping around town on her hipster bicycle.

After a heated dispute over an antique collectible dildo, there's little hope Margaret and Bess will ever see eye to eye. But when Port Bannir is rocked by a senseless murder, both women find themselves implicated. Can they work together to expose the truth - or will the truth prove far too dangerous?

Contains mature themes.

I loved this!!

A really great listen. A quirky story with atypical heroines. Totally refreshing and fun and kept me guessing to the end. Thanks for this! Great performance too.

Love it!

I almost deleted this. Kept putting it off because I found the whole thing weird. And then I told myself why not? And so I gave it a listen and boy was I happy. It was a good story. You kept guessing who dunnit? I like the chemistry between the MCs. I wish to seen a glimpse of what’s next for them.

Quirky, fun, and works

I loved this story. I don't usually go for scary women but somehow Margaret is so hot anyways. Maybe it's Cat Gould when her voice dips all teasing and husky. Maybe it's that I'm a sucker for flirtatious teasing. Sometimes things don't land with me when they're weird, but when weird is done right it can make some of my favourite stories and this one is pretty top notch. My only complaint is I feel like the ending could have been expanded another 30 minutes or more to fill in the relationship between Bess and Margaret a little. I love their relationship, but I felt slightly cheated in that regard. Still, it was only enough to knock the story down half a star or so for me so I rounded up to 5s all around for thr sheer entertainment value. Pretty impressive job balancing so many elements. Will be watching this author.
