Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes book three in her beloved Flesh and Fire series…

The only thing that can save the realms now is the one thing more powerful than the Fates.

After a startling betrayal ends with both Sera and the dangerously seductive ruler of the Shadowlands she has fallen madly in love with being held captive by the false King of the Gods, there is only one thing that can free Nyktos and prevent the forces of the Shadowlands from invading Dalos and igniting a War of Primals.

Convincing Kolis won’t be easy, though–not even with a lifetime of training. While his most favored Revenant is insistent that she is nothing more than a lie, Kolis’s erratic nature and twisted sense of honor leave her shaken to the core, and nothing could’ve prepared her for the cruelty of his Court or the shocking truths revealed. The revelations not only upend what she has understood about her duty and the very creation of the realms but also draw into question exactly what the true threat is. However, surviving Kolis is only one part of the battle. The Ascension is upon her, and Sera is out of time.

But Nyktos will do anything to keep Sera alive and give her the life she deserves. He’ll even risk the utter destruction of the realms, and that’s exactly what will happen if he doesn’t Ascend as the Primal of Life. Yet despite his desperate determination, their destinies may be out of their hands.

But there is that foreseen unexpected thread—the unpredictable, unknown, and unwritten. The only thing more powerful than the Fates…

Too much sex

Great story. I know the story is fantasy genre but the main character is a 7 foot tall Chad with a baby seal between his legs. Sheesh!

This one answers a lot of questions !

Love this series even more than from blood and ash! This book was great in the sense that it had a lot more information about how these two storylines and books are connected and why. I did feel like it was a filler book BUT it was still entertaining and kept my interest. The only thing that I found irritating is that for the last hour of the book it really felt like there was no more story, just spice and more spice. Don’t get me wrong, I love the spice…but like it really didn’t need to keep going on for THAT long. One thing I wish the author included more of was information on the ancients, I found it so interesting and I’d love nothing more than a book about their story too ! Now that I’m finished I cannot wait for the next one though !

A slow burn but so worth it

I was a little impatient through the first 3-4 hours but really enjoyed it after that!

Heart wrenching!!!

It kept me on my toes and was not expecting to cry getting near the end, but so worth it. The next one in this series can't come soon enough!

Meh

This book was used to just connect the two series Rd together, there was so much information dumping, and the last few chapters really turned me off. I'm going to finish finish the series becasue I've come this far, but this book could have been shorter and better. Stina did an amazing job again.

I love this series!!

I’m hooked on her books, can’t wait for another! I do prefer the Blood and Ash series, but both are fantastic!

Cut out the last 2 chapters and it’s perfect

Loved this book. I absolutely adore this series, and JEA has me hooked to read anything she writes. The last 5 chapters were all spice and really went on overkill though. Maybe it was an attempt at fan service but It felt like the story stalled out. I kept waiting for something more to happen and it didn’t. I love spice, but not when it stops your story dead.

The rest was great- solid performances as usual!

What a waste of time

I love this series but this book is 24 hours of literally nothing happening. No surprises. No adventure. Barely any love story - until the end. No questions answered. This just feels like it didn’t need to happen. The whole book could have been wrapped up nicely in 4 hours.
Looking forward to the next one. Hoping it’s more like the rest of the series and not like this.
