About this listen
First in a new series!
In the seaside town of Lighthouse Cove in northern California, everyone knows the best man for the job is actually a woman - contractor Shannon Hammer. But while Shannon can do wonders with a power drill and a little elbow grease, she's about to discover that some problems aren't so easily fixed... Shannon's home-renovation and repair business is booming, but her love life needs work. On a blind date with real-estate agent Jerry Saxton, she has to whip out a pair of pliers to keep Jerry from getting too hands on. Shannon is happy to put her rotten date behind her, but when Jerry's found dead in a run-down Victorian home that she's been hired to restore, the town's attractive new police chief suspects that her threats may have laid the foundation for murder.
Determined to clear her name, Shannon conducts her own investigation - with the help of her four best friends, her eccentric father, a nosy neighbor or two, and a handsome crime writer who's just moved to town. But as they get closer to prying out the murderer's identity, Shannon is viciously attacked. Now she'll have to nail down the truth - or end up in permanent foreclosure....

Very entertaining!!!
I've seen the movies that are based in his series and wanted to see what the books were like! The characters were a little different but it was very enjoyable, I'm definitely going to be listening to more!!!

Great book; stick with it; it’s totally worth it :-)
While listening to the first few scenes in this book, I became more and more angry at something that was going on. I am VERY glad that I kept listening; against all of my expectations, the characters saw the event in its true light :-) From there on, the book just got better and better :-) :-) :-)
Interesting plot, complex characters, and no manufactured drama :-) :-) :-)
ONE thing: the narrator should just stay AWAY from attempting a Scottish accent; just give up; NEVER try it again! Not once did she manages to make the character sound Scottish; never. While the accent changed from sentence/paragraph to sentence/paragraph of the character’s dialogue, it was almost consistently Irish. Multiple regions of Ireland, as the accent changed. At first it annoyed me, then I just laughed and laughed, each time that I heard the narrator’s latest attempt.

Incredibly lost and boring
Have tried to listen numerous times from the beginning and just cannot find a plot line or anything intriguing for me to continue listening. Returning to redeem an undeserved credit

Book start with an attempted SA
I just can’t enjoy books that have sexual assault as a plot point. Especially, when all the “good guys” are so steeped in rape culture that it’s all dismissed as “oh well he’s a jerk.” Not a fun read which is what I came for.
