Story
In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

Story
Once in a generation, a historian will redefine his field, producing a book that demands to be read or heard - a product of electrifying scholarship conveyed with commanding skill. Diarmaid MacCulloch's Christianity is such a book. Breathtaking in ambition, it ranges back to the origins of the Hebrew Bible and covers the world, following the three main strands of the Christian faith.

Story
The story of Napoleon has been written many times. In some versions, he is a military genius, in others a war-obsessed tyrant. Here, historian Adam Zamoyski cuts through the mythology and explains Napoleon against the background of the European Enlightenment and what he was himself seeking to achieve. This most famous of men is also the most hidden of men, and Zamoyski dives deeper than any previous biographer to find him. Beautifully written, Napoleon brilliantly sets the man in his European context.

Amazing history
I really enjoyed having listened the abook. Such a rich history with so many nuances is brilliantly summarized by the author. Also, it amazed me to realize that the history of this people is of much higher importance than I first assumed. Fundamental if one wants to understand a little better today’s messy world.

Excellent history of the Jews
Thought provoking yet grim. Only wish the reader had less of a British accent and pronounced Hebrew names more familiarly to what I am used to.

loved the book, disliked the narration style. the lady's voice is too high pitched and her speech pattern slightly stacato for my taste. her prononciation is excellent.
