About this listen
A funny cozy mystery series full of bold women, a quirky and lovable town, and one seriously hopeless romance.
It's been one helluva morning....
And Hope hasn't even found the body.
At least not yet.
After a 12-year absence, investigative reporter Hope Walker is back home.
In Hopeless, Idaho.
And it's not going well.
It seems the town and its citizens haven't changed much.
Still weird. Still nosy. And a few of them?
Downright hateful.
And now Hope has a serious problem.
Because one of the hateful is dead.
And she's the prime suspect.

Refreshing!
I'm really enjoying the Hope Walker Mysteries audio series set in Hopeless, Idaho. I like the positive small town atmosphere, with a sheriff and residents who care about their community -- a refreshing change from the usual formula of corrupt cops and other one-dimensional townspeople. These characters develop nicely through the series. Story arcs are good, and the writing is smart without being snooty. The mystery resolves itself gradually by following the clues in the old-fashioned style of sleuthing but in a contemporary setting. Light but not silly, and with heart. The best thing of all is narrator Tavia Gilbert, whose voice is a wonderful instrument and a pleasure to listen to.
