Story
Franciszka and her daughter, Helena, are simple, ordinary people until 1939, when the Nazis invade their homeland. Providing shelter to Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland is a death sentence, but Franciszka and Helena do exactly that. In their tiny home in Sokal, they hide a Jewish family in a loft above their pigsty, a Jewish doctor with his wife and son in a makeshift cellar under the kitchen, and a defecting German soldier in the attic - each party completely unknown to the others.

Story
Joan has always done the right thing, both as a palliative care doctor and as a caregiver for her widowed mother, Sheila. Joan’s adventurous sister, Vivien, is a different story. She left home as soon as she was able—running from an insecure childhood troubled by an alcoholic father and a mother who constantly threw away all their possessions in order to buy new ones. Vivien’s rarely been back, working as a nurse in the world’s trouble zones, leaving the heavy burden of family on her sister. Still, when Vivien learns that their mother is seriously ill, she reaches out to Joan.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Repetitive
Kudos to anyone who writes a novel and publishes however I found this book repetitive and predictable with far too many ‘I’m sorry’ in the narrative.

terrible narration
I returned the book after really trying to give it a good try. The narration was annoying and like a robot with a terrible attempt at a male voice.

Robotic narration, could not finish
The narration is terrible. Robotic and stumbling. I tried to slug it out but the storyline wasn't worth it. All the hype about this book was nonsense. it's just an overwrought Harlequin.
