About this listen
After being branded during the battle of Jericho, Moriyah has had no prospects for marriage - until now. She hopes to please the man, but things go horribly wrong and she is forced to flee for her life. Seeking safety at one of the Levitical cities of refuge, she is unprepared for the dangers she faces, and the enemies - and allies - she encounters on her way.
Seven years ago, Moriyah was taken captive in Jericho and branded with the mark of the Canaanite gods. Now the Israelites are experiencing peace in their new land, but Moriyah has yet to find her own peace. Because of the shameful mark on her face, she hides behind her veil at all times and the disdain of the townspeople keeps her from socializing. And marriage prospects were out of the question...until now.
Her father has found someone to marry her, and she hopes to use her love of cooking to impress the man and his motherless sons. But when things go horribly wrong, Moriyah is forced to flee. Seeking safety at one of the newly-established Levitical cities of refuge, she is wildly unprepared for the dangers she will face, and the enemies - and unexpected allies - she will encounter on her way.

I have very much enjoyed this series
I found the book and the narrator did a very good job of the history and time era. If you know your old testament, it adds a setting and family component to aid in understanding the history.

Another great story
After reading her first trilogy I was excited that the stories continued. I loved that there were little pieces of the other books woven in to this story and look forward to the next. The story itself was great, however the narration was not great, especially after listening to the first 3 books which had a fantastic performance in my opinion, I was quite disappointed when it was a different lady and one I didn’t enjoy as much. She commonly pronounces the same words or names differently through the same book which drives me crazy… it took quite a while to get used to her style. That being said I’m going to continue listening to the rest despite the narrator not being my favourite.

Beautiful!!!
Thoroughly enjoying this series. Very good read, couldn't put it down. Even if you don't know the old testament of the Bible, you'll still enjoy the story. The writer did very well; the story didn't drag on or stall. Enjoyed the narration too.
