Saroo Brierley
About this listen
At only five years old, Saroo Brierley got lost on a train in India. Unable to read or write or recall the name of his hometown or even his own last name, he survived alone for weeks on the rough streets of Calcutta before ultimately being transferred to an agency and adopted by a couple in Australia.
Despite his gratitude, Brierley always wondered about his origins. Eventually, with the advent of Google Earth, he had the opportunity to look for the needle in a haystack he once called home and pore over satellite images for landmarks he might recognize or mathematical equations that might further narrow down the labyrinthine map of India. One day, after years of searching, he miraculously found what he was looking for and set off to find his family.
A Long Way Home is a moving, poignant, and inspirational true story of survival and triumph against incredible odds. It celebrates the importance of never letting go of what drives the human spirit: Hope.

An inspirational story
There were so many emotional moments in this story that had me on the verge of tears but it's a heartwarming triumph of love and perseverance that I would recommend to anyone. I saw the movie Lion years ago so I didn't think I also needed to experience the book but I was definitely wrong. It was gripping from beginning to end and was well narrated as well.

Couldn't wait to dive into it again!
I loved this book- both the story and narration. It kept me engaged and I couldn't wait til I was able to read it again. The story was heartfelt about an Indian child who becomes lost and is adopted by an Australian couple. And when he becomes a man, we see how he tries to trace his Indian family. I was able to listen to it for free (as the Included part for members), but I will be buying this book as these books come and go from the 'Included' library list.
The narrator switches from Australian to Indian whenever necessary. He adds enough emotion and tenderness to make me believe he is enjoying this story as much as I am!
I do recommend this book for the cost of a full credit!

Divided
Truly, the story of Saroo is amazing. Overall, though, I found it too long (could have been 5 hours). Some words and parts were unbearably repetitive. Not my most liked narrator.
