Publisher's Summary

Prophesized heroes are reborn. The burden they bear is as terrible as it is necessary.

The dead city of Mahadev. In 3,000 years, none who have entered those ageless walls have returned to bear word of what evil lurks within. And yet it is there that Cinder and Anya must journey. A hard road with mysteries and dangers abounding.

And the greatest of those perils is imprisoned within the ruined temple at the very center of the necropolis’ dark heart. There, Cinder and Anya are given insight into the terrifying truth the world faces. It is an evil so vast that even the dark god Shet must bow before its will. It is the bringer of apocalypse, the ender of civilizations. If ever freed, the world will be helpless before its horrific power.

Forging an alliance all would have rather avoided, Cinder and Anya have no choice but to work with Shet to take on this greater enemy. Worse, it is a pact that will see them give away that which they hold most precious.

Filler book

Annoyingly redundant plot and character interactions. There is nothing interesting about this book. I enjoyed the first two well enough but this one was more of the same issues just redone. Drives me nuts when authors do this

Perfection!

Beautifully written and equally well narrated! I love the world Davis has created! More importantly, Nick let's you really picture each character with his voice acting! Can't wait for book 4!

Very much enjoyed…

the three books so far. Look forward to the forth book coming out next month. Really don’t understand some of the negative comments. Very glad I didn’t let their comments put me off of getting “A Necessary Heresy” or I would have missed a good story. As per usual, Nick Podelh did an excellent narration, Definitely he ranks right up there with being one of my favourite.

Sad continuation of great story

There are only so many times that you can forget and remember and forget to remember if I wanted a book that was plagued by Alzheimer’s. I would’ve selected it…instead, I thought I was buying an adventure story that was continuing a great epic. Not going to waste my money on the next book

A disappointing finish to the series

After enjoying the first two books in the series, I was looking forward to the conclusion of the trilogy. It was disappointing for a variety of reasons. Most importantly, the tone switched from being epic fantasy to a cliched romance novel. The genre shift was dramatic and sophomoric. I feel badly for Mr. Podehl who had to read some of that drivel out loud. There were far too many new uninteresting characters and scenarios for a final book in a series. In conclusion the book was drawn out, repetitive and a lousy romance novel. Twenty- two hours of audio could have been reduced to less than ten. It's too bad - the first two books were very engaging.

Was good until it wasn't

After 2 great books, I stop halfway through this book, The Author basically destroys the MC character development halfway through. The reason for making this choice was also weak in my opinion and the mechanism was also poor. It just makes the MCs look stupid. Would not recommend this book. Will be dropping it on my end, such a waste of time.
