About this listen
Christy Award winner
Jan Karon's millions of fans can't wait to sit down with her heartwarming and hilarious characters, who have a way of becoming family. In fact, readers and booksellers across the country kept Out to Canaan and At Home in Mitford on The New York Times best-seller list for months. In A New Song, Mitford's longtime Episcopal priest, Father Tim, retires. However, new challenges and adventures await when he agrees to serve as interim minister of a small church on Whitecap Island. He and his wife, Cynthia, soon find that Whitecap has its own unforgettable characters: a church organist with a mysterious past, a lovelorn bachelor placing personal ads, a mother battling paralyzing depression. They also find that Mitford is never far away when circumstances "back home" keep their phone ringing off the hook. In this fifth novel of the beloved series, fans old and new will discover that a trip to Mitford and Whitecap is twice as good for the soul.

Abridged
This is one of my favourite series! This audiobook is abridged so it leaves out some story lines and takes big leaps with others.

Wrong narrator
It’s frustrating that this is an abridged version without it telling you so. It also says it is narrated by John McDonough and isn’t .

This is not the narrator stated in the title details!
One of my favourite things about these audiobooks is the narrator John McDonough! And although he is listed as the narrator, the recording is not him. Very disappointing. I don’t even want to listen to it anymore.

A New Song ABRIDGED
I really dislike when the unabridged stories are cut apart. Taking a 17 hour story and cutting down to 5 hours, you end up losing so much. The original story is one of favourites from this series but this abridged version has lost so much that it’s disappointing. I was also very disappointed because it said that John McDonough was the Narrator, and he was not. Jan Karon narrated this version. I am very saddened that so many of the unabridged books have been redone and made abridged. I won’t buy anymore that have been abridged.
