About this listen
A Prayer Before Dawn is the true story of one man's fight to survive inside Klong Prem prison, the notorious Bangkok Hilton. Billy Moore traveled to Thailand to escape a life of drug addiction and alcoholism. He managed to overcome his inner demons for a time but relapsed after trying ya ba, a highly addictive form of methamphetamine. Moore's life quickly descended into chaos, drug dealing, and violence until he was eventually arrested and imprisoned in Klong Prem, a place where life has no value.
A Prayer Before Dawn is no ordinary prison memoir; it's the story of one man's struggle to survive in one of the world's toughest prisons. It's also a story of redemption in the most unlikely of places.

Crazy story!
Good short read! Very interesting. Moral of the story: don’t take your personal rights and freedoms for granted & understand what substances you choose to put into your body. If you don’t respect these principles, you might go through hell.

Billy Moore has lived quite the life
This book seemed to be the audible version of "beyond scared straight"...good story but did not feel personally invested in Billy's experiences.

Incredible story
I saw the movie before listening to the book. As a Muay Thai practitioner, and someone who has been to Thailand, there is so much about this story that reminds me of my time in a country that has so much dichotomy.
This is a great story about survival, and the beauty and ugliness that exists in the world. Very well written.
And I really, really loved the way Rupert, the narrator, read the tale. His animation, his impersonations, and the energy he put into reading the book was by far the best narration for any audio book I’ve ever heard.
Bravo to everyone who produced this audiobook. Highly recommend this book to fans of Muay Thai, travellers and those who are trying to find a way out of addiction.
