About this listen

All Delora ever wanted was to disappear.

Thrown into the Veil for a crime she committed, Delora was discarded by the world. Although afraid of her oncoming demise, she accepts it as it would be a worldly escape from her problems. She didn’t expect that she would wake up from her deadly fall, nor that the person who saved her would be a Duskwalker.

She’s wary about him at first, but Delora begins to realise there’s more to him than just a faceless monster.

All he ever wanted was a name.

After discovering that humans can be kept as companions, he begins planning for the day he finds his own bride. He still lacks humanity and there is much to learn first. One morning when leaving his cave, a human suddenly crashes into him from the sky. Broken and sleeping, he gets to work on healing the woman.

It doesn’t take him long to understand she’s wounded in a way his magic can’t heal.

But will he be able to gain her affections, or will she come to hate him as he stumbles his way through learning about her – and more importantly, himself?

thrillingly beautiful

I loved this book, the only thing I loved more was the narration. the female voice had a perfect american accent except for the few times she said "her ass, which hilariously sounds like heu auss. and it has me cracking up every time. (not trying to be offensive, it is genuinely funny to me lol) great book, great narration, even better series

A soul to Heal

I must say the FMC is rather annoying the first third of this story but it dose get better. The voices actors fit the MCs very well. In my opinion there could be a little more gore but there's just the right amount of monster spice. Opal built off the first book A Soul To Keep flawlessly and I'm really looking forward to the third book A Soul To Touch.

Great story, grating narrator

I love the story & the follow up to the first book. Our nameless duskwalker is so sweet and lovable. Unfortunately the female narrator would be better suited to narrating a children’s story. Her enunciation and narration style don’t suit the story or content at all, frankly it feels uncomfortable.

Male Voice Actor was yummy 🤤

The male voice actor is a great match for his role. My down fall was the female voice actress. I couldn't get into the book as much as I did with the first. It may be that I just don't like character in general. I'll have to give the physical book a read. but as for now I'm looking forward to the third book to see if things change.

absolutely amazing story, I love this series .. but..

I am a huge fan of Opals work and I adored the first book in the series here on audible. I was also really excited to start A Soul to Heal until I heard the female characters voice and the whole thing is completely ruined for me. I'm sure she is a very lovely woman/person, but the whiny, bratty high pitched voice reminds me of the "fat best friend that everyone makes fun of so she became quirky and annoying" BS from the late 90s early 00s.

The male character is and continues to be absolutely amazing and I love when he is reading, he is a perfect casting for this book.

Not as good as the first

The mail female character might be one of the most unlikeable people ever written. The story was okay, and the smut was great but the first was better. I’ll be reading the third though because I do like the duskwalker characters and am holding out hope!

The story and continued world building

Love opel Raynes writing, something about it just gets me super immersed into the story and the voice acting for these audio books makes it even better

The narrators

Delora isn’t the most likeable character but the narrator makes me hate her. I couldn’t stand her voice, it sounded like from an old hag witch lol. Such a huge contrast with the male narrator. Wolfgang Milliken you have the best voice ever!

most unlikable fmc

The female fmc is easily the most unlikable character I've ever read. The female narrator sounded whiny & childlike which gave me the ick especially during spicy scenes, it felt wrong. She also couldn't pronounce "ass" to save her life.
