Publisher's Summary

From bestselling indie author Laura Thalassa comes the newly revised and edited second book in her smash-hit dark fantasy romance between a siren and the “bargainer” she owes countless favors to.

She survived the mad king … but the nightmare isn’t over.

Siren Callypso Lillis still wears the physical reminders of her time as Karnon’s captive, even after reuniting with soulmate Desmond Flynn, the King of Night. Not only that, but mounting evidence suggests the Thief of Souls, the being responsible for the disappearance of countless fae warriors, is still out there.

Invited to an annual Solstice celebration, Callie and Des journey to the Kingdom of Flora to continue their investigation. But under the bright lights and striking blooms of the realm, new complications arise, ones that no amount of bargaining can undo. Soldiers begin to go missing from the gathering, and some of the fae begin to suspect Des is the man behind it all. To Callie, one thing is certain: no one is who they appear to be. Not even her soulmate.

Fairies play dangerous games. Some want love, some want vengeance, some want flesh, and some want horrors too unspeakable to name. Something is stirring in the Land of All that Grows, and if Callie isn’t careful, it will claim everything she loves—and her along with it.

Good Narration. Questionable plots

Love the narrator! I feel like she did a good job with all the differentiation of voice characters as well as portraying their emotions. She’s made getting through these books enjoyable!

I always feel bad for ragging on these with more negative than good, but I stay here because I love this is shit and I’m a sucker for these cute human & fae stories.

But there is so many inconsistencies, lack of simple communication, annoying story tropes, and the plain fact the MFC is suppose to be intelligent but acts like a blundering damsel 98% of the time…. that if I wasn’t desperately in love with wanting Des & Callie to take over the world with mad night magic love…. I wouldn’t have continued over the amount of frustration that bordered on downright anger that I felt all too often.
I had to keep taking breaks with this book, sometimes for hours, sometimes for days!
I read books to escape, and I found myself trying to escape this book with other books to find relief, but all the while urning to come back and continue when I wasn’t so annoyed lol. So I needed it! But I hated it, and had felt a wave of relief wash over me when I was done this book.

Sidenote; I will be continuing this series regardless of how long I need to struggle through it. This is my life now.

Waiting to get to the good part.

I enjoyed the first book but the second droned on about everything she saw, touched, how it made her feel and how des made her feel how much she loved him. It got nauseating. I was waiting for the story to move on to the more pressing issue. It did come but it took a long time.

Another great book!

Just when you think things can’t get creepier they do.
First our girls best friend makes an entrance when she hadn’t heard from her & honestly I love their friendship, they are very ride or die!

They have to all attend a week long celebration in another fairy kingdom, and well they are there everyone is pointing fingers at each other causing discord amongst the kingdoms. Especially after fae men keep going missing. Where they go we find out and it’s creepy.

Who we thought was long dead ends up being a key player in this game.

There’s a big fight & our girl nearly died but was saving her the right choice with the warning she was given? Only time will tell!

Tedious to support FMC POV

Not sure it’s on purpose or not - but the events in this story portray pretty clearly to the reader - the magnitude of the FMCs abilities. But her inner monologue is deliberately unaware of self. It became very frustrating.
