About this listen
With all of the charm and appeal of The Apprentice Witch, A Witch Alone follows a very special heroine into a deeper darkness as magical creatures start to creep into Hylund....
Arianwyn is a fully qualified witch, but somehow magic doesn't feel any easier than it did in her apprentice days. The Hex has driven all manner of supernatural creatures out of the Great Wood and into her little town - some benign, others dark, and others downright mischievous. The Spellorium has never been so busy!
What's more, the High Elder has set her a dangerous secret mission. With Gimma acting weirder than usual and her friendships crumbling under pressure, Arianwyn faces the toughest spell of her witching career - can she really see it through alone?

I listen to this story again and again
I have had this series since it first came out... eagerly awaiting each book - I have listened to the series repeatedly... it is comforting and fascinating each time! A coming of age story for a young woman (older teen) who sets off on her own to carry out her duties as a witch. I love how the village witch is much like the doctor or the post-mistress... it is a job and although she is special in that she can control magic... in every other way she is a normal young woman navigating life and growing up. The characters are quite believable and the story sticks with you... when I walk in the forest now (I call it the great wood)... I see the magic... I see it differently. Great story - great series - highly recommend!!
