About this listen

Welcome to Myrtlewood, a quirky town steeped in magic, tea, and mystery…

Life’s a struggle for Rosemary Thorn and her teen daughter, Athena. But their regular troubles are turned upside down after Granny Thorn’s mysterious death.

Despite her cousin's sinister maneuverings, Rosemary returns to Myrtlewood and the sprawling, dilapidated Thorn Manor. There's more to the old house than meets the eye, as Rosemary and Athena soon find out—in a whirlwind of magic, adventure, mystical creatures, and endless cups of tea.

Life in Myrtlewood would be bliss if Rosemary could only clear her name in a certain murder investigation, solve the mystery and stay out of mortal peril—for at least a little while!

A small town with endless secrets, strange activities, and a house with a mind of its own.

Entertaining characters.

The author had many characters but the narrator was able to read in a way to keep them sorted as I listened. I am downloading book two!

Cute story

I found it a cute story, but I found the 2 main characters hard to warm up to as one whines and one is overly acerbic.
But I did enjoy the story and after I became curious of mysterious Myrtlewood.

Cute story, struggled with narration.

I'm cringing my way through this story due to the gravelly narration...I find it grating, but enjoy the story.
I think it would work for certain characters, but it seems like the narrator is turning most characters into pirates, or what pirates sounded like in 80s movies. Confusing choice.

the mother was an idiot and the daughter was a cow.

I've rarely disliked main characters as much as I did the mother and daughter in this story. the story wasn't particularly interesting either. I gave up after about 3 hours.

Had a hard time understanding reader

I was so looking forward to this book. It's tough to say much about the story; I really struggled to understand the reader. Pronunciation of words and especially names were off. Ended up having to go back repeatedly to try to understand what she had just said. Really lost my enthusiasm for continuing.

Hard to listen to

I count finish it, I tried 2X.
It's a bit confusing as the reader uses the same voice for several characters
