Publisher's Summary
You need to know who your husband really was....
When Paula Gadd’s husband of almost 30 years dies, just days away from the seventh anniversary of their son Christopher’s death, her world falls apart. Grieving and bereft, she is stunned when a young woman approaches her at the funeral service and slips something into her pocket. A note suggesting that Paula’s husband was not all that he seemed....
When the two women eventually meet, a series of revelations challenges everything Paula thought they knew, and it becomes immediately clear that both women’s lives are in very real danger. Both a dark, twisty slice of domestic noir and taut, explosive psychological thriller, After He Died is also a chilling reminder that the people we trust the most can harbour the deadliest secrets....

Fairly Decent Who-dun-it
A mystery/thriller set in modern day Glasgow.Good story, excellent lead in. I was interested in the story within the first few paragraphs. Interesting characters, a couple of good twists. Still kind of predictable in places, overly dramatic.
Very cool to use a scottish reader, who is quite good, but a bit hard to understand when slipping into some accents.
This recording merits 5.5 stars out of 10

Paid by the word?
Endless descriptions of the protagonist's grief and fatigue fail to explain how she is able to display genius feats of eidetic memory while simultaneously being too out of touch to cross the street safely or use a phone... on multiple occasions. The story circles the drain through incredible coincidence and giant plot and character holes until the bowl is dry and they live happily ever after. Good narrator.

Couldn't finish it
I made it up to chapter 11 but I ended up having to return this audiobook. The narrator was okay, definitely a bit monotone & slow though. Unfortunately the story just didn't hold my attention at all. It felt like 80% percent of the story was just the main character whining or reminiscing about her husband (sorry if that sounds a bit callous), right down to how this one particular tie that he owned was worn because of his stubble rubbing on it. Not that interested in minutia like that. Definitely would have liked to have more of the actual mystery story happening. Was just not for me.
