Publisher's Summary

In the delightful Cotswold village of Carsely, the air is heady with romance. Agatha Raisin is convinced that the new vet has taken a shine to her. But before she can get anywhere, handsome Dr. Paul Bladen is accidentally killed while attending to Lord Pendlebury’s horse. So was it really an accident? All the evidence points that way, but the circumstances are decidedly suspicious....

Nice weekend entertainment

I like these books while I am doing other things that do not require my attention: housework, carpentry, yardwork, laundry.

Agatha is refreshingly 'NOT nice'. This book is not for you if you like crusading heroines, simpering victims, loving and loyal wives, women leaders with magical powers.

Agatha is a very real (if a bit dated) person with flaws that do not endear. Even when she tries to be nice, she hasn't got the patience to do it right.

We have lots of men who are antiheroes, not so many women. The plots are entertaining 'who dun it', and thoroughly enjoyable light entertainment.

Another cozy murder

Definitely loving Agatha Raisin and her mystery solving antics. I didn’t enjoy the narrator as much as the first story but still very good.

I want to be like Agatha Raisin

Agatha Raisin is feisty and irreverent. She is goofy and badass. There are laugh out loud moment in this book - including one for a belly laugh involving a visit to the loo in a restaurant. Love these books!

Fun character driven mystery.

These remind me in some lesser sense of Agatha Christie or Louise Penny. I only found her wrap up scene and dialogue a bit forced. Otherwise, a nice easy fun stress-free read.
