Publisher's Summary

When a body is discovered at a popular Highland landmark, it seems like just another day on the job for DCI Jack Logan and his team.

Except this body is missing a very vital component, and given its location - The Well of Seven Heads - it seems like someone is trying to send a message. But why? And to whom?

With pressure mounting from his superiors, 600 teenagers baying for blood, and the press sniffing around for a scandal, the only chance Jack has of cracking his latest case is if he finds a way to keep the heid, while all around are losing theirs.

Ahead of the Game is the 10th book from best-selling Scottish crime author, JD Kirk, and is perfect for fans of Ian Rankin, Stuart Macbride, and Val McDermid.

Excellent Series

My very favourite series. I love Tyler's character but Jack is a bit brusque with him. although I'm sure it's all for show. Angus, I hope they pay you well. You are the best I've ever heard. It is a pleasure to listen to all the different characters with different voices which you are brilliant at. So looking forward to the next in the series.

The latest in a great series by JD Kirk

I love this series and this title is full of twists right to the conclusion. The characters are wonderfully brought to life by Angus King and hearing this version after having read the book is a wonderful experience. I recommend starting the series from A Litter of Bones to enjoy the full development of DCI Jack Logan and his team.

Best Ever

I absolutely love this series. I have listened to a lot of similar books but this writer and narrator are the very best by far. The stories are interesting , suspenseful and humorous! I only wish I could slow down so they would last longer.

This needs to be a tv series

The writer mixes humour into believable criminal scenarios, the stories play out to the end with complete drama unlike some authors who throw simple endings into complicated plot. Angus King is a master story teller mixing many accents and cultures into his narration

great

It's so much harder to write reviews for books you loved. This was a brilliant, entertaining procedural. Perfect blend of grimness and humor. I laughed so hard I snorted in two separate sections. The mystery was great, the plotting was great, the solution was a bit of a surprise, and the side plots were equally compelling.
Loved it.
The scene where Sinead and Khaled are trying to figure out how short you have to be to be considered a LP. I have to note that one specifically. I haven't laughed that hard in months. Maybe that makes me terrible person, or maybe it was just really, really cleverly written. I don't know.
