About this listen

Written by a friend and scientific collaborator with Albert Einstein, this remarkable study is a model of what a biography of a scientist should be. In this book, we come to know Albert Einstein as the “backward” child; the academic outcast; the reluctant world celebrity; the exile; the pacifist; the philosopher; the humanitarian; the tragically saddened “father” of the atomic bomb; and above all, the unceasing searcher after scientific truth. At the same time, we are given a superb and essential introduction to the creative process and the concepts that shattered an age-old view of the universe and ushered in a revolution whose reverberations continue to touch us all.

An amazing man.

Captivating. A genius and a man of principles. Looking back the atom bomb has perhaps made world war unlikely.

A wonderful find.

At first I wasn’t sure if I would like the narrators voice, but she was perfect for the job. This book doesn’t try to go into great depth I of his scientific work or the complexities involved, but just skims the surface letting the reader at least begin to grasp the basic concepts, putting it into simple visual terms where possible. I found it very interesting and quite moving and I’m tempted to go back and listen to the whole thing over again

Fabulous of course

This, of course, was a fabulous retelling of an interesting man’s life. Yet I felt something should have to been said about his dear friend Kurt Gödel.
