Publisher's Summary

In 2048, Sam Bixler is a brilliant scientist working for Telos, the world's most powerful corporation. Little does she know that a shocking secret about a deadly virus lurks within Telos, setting her on a thrilling and dangerous journey.

Telos’s famed Project Alethea initiative treated countless Cato virus patients, including Sam's mother, Joan. Sam must question everything after evidence emerges that Telos may have lied about her mother's death, leaving room for the possibility that Joan might still be alive. Determined to unravel the truth, Sam returns to her hometown in the Hudson Valley, only to discover that her father, Clint, is missing. In her quest for answers, she crosses paths with the Resistance movement, her father's allies in the fight against Telos, as they risk everything to expose the dark side of Project Alethea.

Now, Sam faces a pivotal choice: Spy within her own company and infiltrate the Project Alethea Team for the Resistance or keep her comfortable life within Telos’s ecosystem.

Brace yourself for an immersive adventure, set in a chilling, futuristic New York City. Will the quest for truth be worth Sam risking her own life and the lives of her loved ones?

Alethea is written by Katrina Day and Philomena Polefrone and directed, edited, and scored by Mark Henry Phillips (Serial, Homecoming).

Very good

Listening with real noises arround is very intersting. Does are well done, but wen she is spoking low voice, I could barely ear what she said. The story is good and could be true. All narrators are very talented.

The New Gold Standard

The production/engineering/sound design and performances were so good in this book, it's making me reconsider previous 5 star reviews I've given. Loved the story itself as well. The bar was just raised a notch or two. Well done to all involved.

Not a complete story

An enjoyable listen that combines some standard tropes in moderately new ways. The narration is outstanding. I know it's only five hours but that doesn't justify foisting off only a part of a story rather than a complete one. I foolishly assumed that the Part 1 in the title meant there was a Part 2, but apparently that's for some future date.

At the very least this kind of literary hucksterism should carry an up front warning.

It's too bad because this is a writer/writing team I clearly would enjoy but will never pick up anything by them ever again to prevent the folly of hours devoted to an untold tale.

Not overly deep but a good performance

For this one you will want headphones with both ears listening, there is a lot of spatial effects you may not appreciate without it. The audio is quite immersive if you let it in.

Cool premise bad story telling

The narrator's were good but the story fell flat. At most it filled some of my time. The story is also very predictable. If you need to fill some time I'd say go for it while this books is free.

Tight moving novel

The storyline is very flowing and tight in the sense that you get the past tied into present moving the story a long swiftly not trying to spend a lot of time on past but enough to know why the current events. The story moves quickly from one event to another but keeps the story tightly together. Good narration from all. Possibly the story could have been as a series but not. You are left thinking this is the end and things we all conclude as expect. Enjoyed.

Poor story, performance and audio quality

Audio quality is all over the place. Story is very repetitive, poorly edited and poorly performed. Good thing this was a free item.

Could have been a lot better.

I thought the cast was good and I enjoyed their performance. With headphones, the audio was quite immersive too. I enjoyed that. But the main plot of story itself kept getting sidetracked, and the story didn’t really feel like it was moving forward. I lost interest about half way through and set it aside.
