About this listen

As a child Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man.

When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating - and waiting for suitable prey. Hoop and his associates uncover a nest of Xenomorphs, and hell takes on a new meaning. Quickly they discover that their only hope lies with the unlikeliest of saviors....

Ellen Ripley, the last human survivor of the salvage ship Nostromo.

good performance but not sooriginal

AI plot twist similar to the first alien movie... similar to the Covenant.

I wish there'd be more to it

Liked it better than the Dramatization

I'll go with unabridged before a flashy dramatization any day. This was roughly twice as long as the Audible drama, which was more like a radio play than an audiobook, Good production quality and almost as good as something like Afghanada, but I still prefer this. I'm partial to Simon Vance so basically any audiobook not read by him, I just don't like as much, but that's my preference, not a dig on Harding. He was fine. Alien is a mess of canon and retcon so despite some continuity problems with this story to the truly nerdy Alien fan, it was a pretty good retcon. Definitely recommend this to any alien fan, and this version over the audio drama.

Interesting story, non interesting narrator

The story was good however I was not a fan of the narrator. There was no tension in his voice therefore the parts that you should have been sitting on the edge of your seat was just the same tone as people eating lunch. I also was not a fan of the voice he gave Ripley. Ellen Ripley is one of the strongest and bad ass women in cinema but here she sounds very meek and mild...more princess then Alien killer. I was also not a fan of the ending but I won’t go too much into that due to spoilers.

Sadly disappointing

So many glaring errors that the crew made. Errors that wouldn't have taken place on any ship in harms way. Failing even the most basic airlock and contamination protocols. Hostile force on the other side of the airlock? No precautions to secure the rest of the ship in case of containment failure. Really? A shuttle bay without an emergency docking release? If a docked craft suffered a mishap there's no way even for the ship's engineer to manually disengage? Seems horribly short sighted and poorly designed. These huge oversights and a lot more make me think that the author has no experience or knowledge in the area that he's chosen to write about.

Good book, annoying narrator

This isn’t the version featuring an ensemble cast. The narrator is sub par with a habit of dropping his tone over and over again. Pretty good book though, wish i read it instead.
