About this listen

A dramatic new Alien novel, as Weyland-Yutani seeks to recover from the failure of Hadley's Hope and successfully weaponize the Xenomorphs

With the failure of Hadley's Hope, Weyland-Yutani has suffered a devastating setback - the loss of the Aliens they aggressively sought to exploit. Yet there's a reason the Company has risen to the top of the food chain. True to form, they have a redundancy already in place...the facility known as "The Cold Forge".

Remote station RB-232 has become their greatest asset in weaponizing the Xenomorphs. However, when Dorian Sudler is sent to RB-232 to assess their progress, he discovers that there's a spy aboard - someone who doesn't necessarily act in the company's best interests. For Dorian, this is the most unforgivable of sins. When found, the perpetrator will be eliminated with extreme prejudice. If unmasked, though, this person may be forced to destroy the entire station...and everyone on board. That is, if the Xenomorphs don't do the job first.

Not sure why the bad review below, this is great!

Almost done listening to this one, it's great! The use of of the words "long corridors" shows the author knows their Alien stuff! Wish it was a bit longer, but otherwise it's a great Alien story.

Great.. Albeit Excessively Gory & Oddly Sexualized

This story follows horrific events on a secret Weyland-Yutani research ship studying and developing xenomorphs. The things inevitably escape to wreak havoc and kill-kill-kill. Alex White provides a rollercoaster-ride adventure featuring genuinely detestable characters (with occasional redeeming features), fun plotting, and mind's-eye vivid description.
Unfortunately, White can't restrain himself: becoming guilty of excess. The book borders on the X-rated at times and includes fights and deaths so graphic that they are often nauseating and occasionally actually threaten "sick" status.

Fortuitously for audiobook aficionados: Reader Michael Braun provides unsurpassed narration. His female character interpretations are sometimes over-the-top, but his voice-acting is otherwise unimpeachable, his diction, timbre, cadence, and pacing are flawless, and his sense of horror moodiness is near-psychic. The man's understanding of atmospheric tone is uncanny.

Altogether, I rate 'Alien: Cold Forge' 8.5 stars out of 10. I happen to have a reasonably strong stomach, so I feel very fortunate to have found the audiobook on the 'Plus' menu.. because it would merit a Credit for any Alien(TM) fan.

Engaging, Fun and Super Cynical

The narration was excellent. The story was engaging and I picked up on a number of references to the other works. Great fun - i recommend this book in audio or otherwise.

better than expected.

to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the Alien series, but I'm in a Sci-Fi mood so I figured I'd check this one out. I was pleasantly surprised to find it pretty good. some of the characters are crazy, and the back and forth is quite intense sometimes. all in all the good experience.

Much better then expected

I've a lot of Alien books in my time, most are passable but not remarkable, but this one really captivated me. The author really understands that Alien is at its best when the real villain isn't the xenomorphs but the company, often distilled into a single company man acts as a single cypher for the abuses of Capitalism, and this book has one of the best villains by way or company man I've read in any Alien book. This is aided by the fact that much of the story is told from his perspective, really letting you get a good look at the world through his eyes.

A Different Kind of Alien Book

A unique story about our favorite Xenomorphs with two very different lead characters, one of them a highly unlikable sociopath which sometimes made it less engaging to follow but overall, a fast-paced, well-written and deliciously well performed tale set in the Aliens universe.

Compelling Characters, and a Vicious Plot

The voice actor does a superb job of putting you into the mind of each character.

The main characters evoke emotions of appeal, disgust, intrigue, frustration and contrast with each other in ways that throw you into deep thought.

The story is exactly what you'd expect from a universe with monsters.
