About this listen
Canada's most verbally virtuosic comic makes his literary debut - and he's just as richly uproariously funny on audio as on stage.
His legion of fans - the ones who ensure his every show the length and breadth of Canada is sold out - recognize Ron James as one of the great stand-ups of his generation. His seemingly improvisational flights of fancy - no two shows are ever the same - are crammed with inventive phrase-making, feature a vocabulary Donald Trump could only fantasize about and put every word into the service of uproarious comedy.
He sounds like a man born to write a great book - and now at last he has. But this is a book he has been writing for most of his life, in his head, in his car, while driving from gig to gig.
In All over the Map, Ron has brilliantly captured the voice that has enthralled millions on stage and screen. He also lets up a little on the usually relentless laughs (though there are still plenty of those) to reveal a new dimension to his beloved showbiz character. His hilarious reminiscences of growing up in Nova Scotia and his early struggles as an aspiring comic, his reveries on such topics as family, country, celebrity, and lessons learned from myriad chance encounters will deepen our appreciation for this great comic and win him many new fans in his new role as author.

Is there a more sociable province than Newfoundland and Labrador? Or anywhere in Canada with a greater reputation for coming to the rescue of those in need? At this time of Covid, singer, songwriter and best-selling author Alan Doyle is feeling everyone's pain. Off the road and spending more days at home than he has since he was a child hawking cod tongues on the wharfs of Petty Harbour, he misses the crowds and companionship of performing. We're all experiencing our own version of that deprivation, and Alan, one of Newfoundland's finest storytellers, wants to offer a little balm.

Verbal gymnast and master humorist
Ron is a one-of-a-kind thinker, writer and entertainer. His book, like his performances, is dense with wit and a unique style of humor. It’s not a casual listen—it takes some concentration to grasp the ten or more ideas, images and memories that get packed into every sentence. But it’s worth every focused minute to mine the gold from them thar stories. He’s honest and human and funny as hell. Not a dull moment from start to finish.

Exceptional!
I have seen Ron James perform several times, and bought the book. But the man has a rhythm, a cadence, that only his voice can deliver...so I did not hesitate to buy this Audible book. It was akin to seeing him in person...with multiple bursts of hysterical laughter so loud, my neighbours thought I was throwing a party. a
And I was, with Ron's voice booming through the apartment, and me left agape in awe and screaming with laughter. I made the right choice for my first Audible book...I will cherish this audiobook from the best comedian and one of the finest comic minds. Thank you, Ron, for years of fun...this book will be replayed over and over for more fun.💕
