The Reclamation of JFK’s Character

This book strives to give the other side of the story about JFK and his legacy. After decades of mainly negative and derisive rhetoric about JFK, this book makes no effort to shy away from the many incredible accomplishments of this great leader, who’s life was extinguished before he had a chance to see many of his efforts come to fruition. This book is not about the details of JFK’s assassination. It focuses primarily on his many extraordinary accomplishments, over a shockingly short period of time. It does however, perhaps inadvertently, lay out in great detail the powerful interests, both in global business and in global politics, those who admired and those who hated this great man for his empathy and his policy. The author postulates how the lingering and, in many cases, growing effects of the murder in Dallas and how the inability of subsequent investigations on that murder have failed to lend truth to the historic event. This has lead to many of the divisions and lack of trust we see in our world today, much of which was predicted by Kennedy himself and RFK after the assassination. For instance, RFK is quoted in the book as saying the divisions experienced amongst the population at large will be seen as divisions of left vs. right, however, they are really divisions of top vs. bottom. I wonder how much progress we could make if we all adopted that truth? I highly recommend this book as an antidote to the ongoing efforts to diminish the man behind the greatest example of courageous political leadership in the 20th century.
