Narrator: Dianne Dorman - good but too mature for the younger characters.
I enjoyed this story. My favorite characters are Kate and Nadine. I also adored Lorena Birdsong. What a cutie!
There are many heart-wrenching moments in this novel with the alcoholism, difficult father figures, & the struggles amongst many in the community of Rosey Corner.
This story is quite slow-paced and I struggled with that sometimes. There are a couple things that I either somehow missed or they were not answered. It felt a little unfinished. I now know it’s book one of a series and perhaps that is why, but they are things I felt should be wrapped up within *this* story.
[Note to the audiobook publisher: The orchestral music is greatly annoying and not a fit for this story whatsoever. Personally, I don’t want to hear any music between chapters, or at all. It is jarring and interruptive.].
