Publisher's Summary

A scientist from another world. A mage seeking deadly knowledge. A power that could topple an empire.

Nathan's life was defined by labs and lectures until an Archmage yanked him into Davrar and made him a tantalizing offer: master magic in exchange for Earth's scientific secrets. Yet, Nathan can't shake off the feeling that darker truths lurk beneath such promises.

The world of Davrar is a dangerous place teeming with dungeons and monsters–ruled by levels, Talents, and a near-infinite progression of power. Nathan will need to rely on himself to survive, forging alliances and taking every advantage he can get against those that seek to control him.

His unique capacity to counteract magic gives him an unprecedented edge, making him a beacon of resistance against those who wield magic as a weapon of control.
Armed with intellect and an emerging power that could dismantle the very foundations of Davrar's society, Nathan emerges not as a mere student of magic, but as its ultimate adversary: the Antimage.

Great fun, and good twist to “MAGIC”

This was fun and had a lot of fun listening. Hope the next one ain’t too far away. It’s one of my favourites, so if you’re on the fence, just get it and enjoy!

Definitely something unique

This author takes everything you love about LitRpg and fantasy progression books and puts a new refreshing idea of a MC that’s basically allergic to magic. Recommend to anyone looking for something new to scratch that itch.

It holds my interest, good MC

i like the story, and its not a romance. Too many skill reports that is a little distracting, but i still want to see how the story and MC develops.

a unique perspective on an overdone genre

I was looking for books that involved the MC diving deep into magical studies as I'm most drawn to stories about wizards. I thought that with something titled antimage I'd get something along those lines. Instead I got antimagic Barbarian who's quick and clever. The general story telling and world building are both fantastic and this is a good read, definitely worth buying

Amazing magic system

This book was refreshingly original. The magic system is unique and amazing! My only sadness is that there are not another 19 books in the series yet.

Good start

Good enough that I bought the second one immediately. Science grad moves to magic world, becomes antimagic, fights slavery. Good times had by all.

beautiful

I appreciate how the book is not just constant dialogue like he who fights with monsters and that it's not overly political. the class system isn't overly complicated and it's very interesting see how Nathan decides to share his early insights. also thanks for putting the characters on the cover, I like to imagine them in first person so seeing what they look like is helpful.

Very well done incorporation of science

The science aspect in the book is extremely well done and satisfying. The science is deep and correct in a way I've never seen anywhere else.
The dialogue, worldbuilding, characters pacing - it's all really good too

This book is so inspiring and fun.

Mild spoiler warning.

The causes that the characters get behind feel
noble without any sort of cliche. I absolutely adore the magic system, it feels so natural to me.

The story

Really good story with a decent power system, and good narrator. Hoping for the next book to have an audiobook as well
