I picked this book up thinking it would be exactly what sounded like. Then it slowly and cleverly turned into a sci-fi setting involving a AI run malfunctioning colony ship in the role of God that had been programmed to EXTERMINATUS this world if the people didn’t perform rituals showing the population wasn’t getting along. It’s brilliant how hits of technology forgotten by the population have Been dropped so they feel out of place and make you wonder what is going on.

Sci-fi masquerading VERY CLEVERLY as Biblical Fiction?!

This whole series by Sharon Shinn is complex and delightful. Really enjoyed the books in this series
