Story

Story
One week after their 11th birthday, the Fowl twins - scientist Myles, and Beckett, the force of nature - are left in the care of house security (NANNI) for a single night. In that time they befriend a troll who has clawed his way through the earth's crust to the surface. Unfortunately for the troll, he is being chased by a nefarious nobleman and an interrogating nun, who both need the magical creature for their own gain, as well as a fairy-in-training who has been assigned to protect him. The boys and their new troll best friend escape and go on the run.

Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers. One day, he's tracked down by an uncle he barely knows - a man his mother claimed was dangerous. Uncle Randolph tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.

When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

very good. great story.
kiddos (boys 9 and 11) struggled a little with the narrator's accent initially but picked it up as they got into the story.

Bad audio narration
The book is nice. The audio narration, not so much. At the beginning of the book, Artemis describes the character Nguyen Xuan's accent this way "your English has a tinge of Oxford about it..." However, the audible narrator proceeds to give Mr. Xuan a weird stereotypical caricatural bad "asian" accent. That was enough to guarantee 1 star from me.

Abridged...
Missed this when I bought the book, but this version is abridged, and it's awful! All of the important parts of the story are missing.
