Publisher's Summary
Amrit Kaur (The Sex Lives of College Girls) delivers a stellar performance in a brand-new enemies-to-lovers hockey romance by Sonya Lalli, the acclaimed author of The Matchmaker’s List and A Holly Jolly Diwali.
Hockey coach Ashley Jaswal doesn't take nonsense from anyone … except her overbearing and superstitious family. They believe she's a good luck charm for her brother Jas, the newest Vancouver Canucks draft pick, forcing Ash to attend all his games as he rises up the NHL ranks, sacrificing her personal life (not that she has one—who decided hockey season needed to be 10 months long anyway?).
Ash also clashes with Jas’s teammate, Canucks captain Devin Snyder. Devin is yet another arrogant hockey bro—and admitted total babe—who is fresh off a scandalous break-up with a global pop-star. But she soon finds the ice melts between them, and they share an unexpected chemistry. As Ash wrestles with her family’s demands, her brother’s career and her feelings for Devin, will she find a way to take a risk and make her own luck? Or will she puck this up?
This captivating Audible Original is an essential listen for fans of sports romance, strong heroines, sizzling chemistry and the diversity within the hockey community.

Perfect for female athletes/coaches
I can’t say enough positive feedback about this audible original. The themes of female empowerment, personal growth, friendship, healthy communication and setting boundaries expressed throughout the story are inspirational. I didn’t want it to end! As a female athlete and coach in a male dominated sport, I related to this story so much. I hope the author writes more like this as there is a such a shortage of characters and storylines that surround strong, athletic female coaches and sports. I love how the story highlighted the struggles and lack of support of female athletes, in particular where brothers are given advantages, not only from society but from their own families. The love story was sweet as were the friendships throughout the story. I loved this story so much!

smart, funny and real. difficulties women face in family and in society. Great narration Also learned a lot about hockey.
The voice of the brother is muffled and I thought it meant he was hurt or drunk but it’s just the readers voice for the brother. Other than that I loved it.

fantastic book
this is a story of woman discovering her self worth, dealing with toxic family system, discrimination and sexism. the romance is secondary and that's what I liked. I was invested in Ash's story in all parts of her life. highly recommend

There's a lot to love, but...
There's a lot to like about this book. The Canadiana of it all is very charming and fun to read. The FMCs journey to change her destiny and command the respect she deserves is admirable and, although frustrating to witness, is ultimately inspiring. As for the actual romance, this book is very straightforward (zero on the chilly pepper scale for those looking for that kinda romance - audible really needs to incorporate that into their descriptions.) It starts off very adorable and will make you tee-hee. However, at some point it takes a turn. Yes, of course, in romance novels there must be a conflict the lead couple needs to overcome before they get their happily-maybe-ever-after, but this conflict was sloppy - unless of course you enjoy watching someone self-sabotage themselves and unfairly blame all their insecurities onto their partner so that they can skirt accountability and their partner can make a large gesture of love.
