Publisher's Summary

If he hopes to survive, he must discover a whole new kind of magic.

Ekavir is a hardworking lumberjack's son. It isn't his fault crows speak in eldritch voices when he walks through the forest, or that his blood-red eyes leave the village kids shaking in their shoes.

He might be the latest incarnation of a dreaded god known as the Primordial, but he never asked for that. He doesn't even know.

When knights arrive hunting for the Ender of Realms, Vir loses his idyllic life along with his chance to be anything else. To grow strong enough to survive, he'll have to become the Primordial.

There's just one problem: Vir can't do magic. Not even the simplest spells to light a fire or conjure a breeze.

To take back control of his destiny, Vir will have to find a new kind of magic. He'll have to forge his own path, and he'll have to do it while running, fighting, and clawing for survival.

It might be that Vir is destined to live out his days without magic...Or maybe his brand of magic just defies all the known rules.

Don't miss this epic new progression fantasy from bestseller Vowron Prime. Featuring loads of action, detailed worldbuilding and magic system, unforgettable characters, cultivation elements, LitRPG elements, weak-to-strong progression, a rational MC, and so much more.

it wasnt predictable

excellent narration, unique magic system, cultivation like progression for the characters. The characters personalities evolve realistically, and arent shallow, the story had me guessing so many times.

Very interesting world building. Stellar narration

So, the world building in this book is pretty good but it feels a bit underpopulated at times even though the cities are certainly enormous. This can be easily fixed, while it starts in a small town, it doesn’t seem like small towns exist between bigger cities. However, having it kinda, sorta set in a desert I suppose makes sense. You get a sense that the larger world is very big and quite populace in main cities etc, but you are more told about them vs experience them until the half way mark for a small city and 1/3 way for a Capital city, this isn’t a criticism, clearly the choice was made to start small and contained but thankfully it’s a long book so it does stretch its legs. Clearly this is an excellent start to a fantastic series and with a narrator that has to be in everyone’s top 5 if not top 3, you know you are in for a good time.

The fantasy elements: The lore gets off to great start learning a little bit about a character from hundreds of years ago. You don’t really understand why certain things are happening and it sets up some great questions and later on, a few answers for later in the book. But I can’t help but feel as I read further into the story that the character in the prologue nearly did the equivalent of unaliving himself because he was in a rush?!? Am I wrong? I guess time will tell. I believe we are introduced to different realms in the back half, if only briefly and it really drives the story forward and sets up the series.

(Potential) Spoiler ahead:

I love the sort of techno-mage vibe you get when Vir briefly enters what seems like a pseudo (nay, quasi?) realm in the last 1/3rd of the book. I’m excited to see what this leads to.

- Spoiler over -

Anyhow, you do get the sense that all who came before Vir failed at attaining the fullness of their power and I really enjoy that idea. That when or if he attains it he won’t be a knockoff of the first of his kind, rather he will become what all of them tried to be. This opens the series up to fully new ground and developing new lore around our MC.

There are a few things that bother me, the birthmark is mentioned and in the prologue seems very important, but other than a couple quick mentions, it never comes up again in the rest of the book. I thought for sure it would factored in, or be mentioned during the training portion of the book but it’s more or less forgotten about most of the book. So be patient. I got the message.

I think this book has a lot to like and be excited about. It is long at times but any self serious series should IMHO. I do wish the magic system was a bit more nailed down earlier in the book just for my own curiosity but that’s no fault of the author, I’m just impatient like that.

I will absolutely be buying the next book, can’t wait, I hope it isn’t a long wait, but with a book this long, it’s gonna take what it takes I guess. Either way I’m here for it and can’t wait to rejoin this story in the future.
