About this listen
For more than 4,000 years, the people of India have looked to Ayurveda as a pathway to vibrant health and increased longevity. This ancient healing science is treasured as a gift from the Vedas (the world's oldest sacred texts). Ayurveda offers all people a practical way to achieve self-realization, a way that is based not on constantly changing data but on the eternal forces of the universe.
In Ayurveda, you will learn how to apply this fascinating system for total wellness to your own life. Your personal instructor in this audio study course is Dr. Vasant Lad, founder of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Drawing from his work in both India and America, Dr. Lad leads you to a clear understanding of Ayurveda and its life-enhancing powers. You will learn to see your mind, body, and spirit as a microcosm of the universe itself. The five elements present in all matter also exist in each individual. By learning the cosmic laws that govern these elements, you can strengthen and energize yourself - effectively and naturally.
From principles of self-healing and proper food combinations to the cosmic laws that unite all consciousness, Ayurveda makes it easy to explore this ancient healing art.

Story
These 1028 poems, grouped as 10 ‘Circles’ (mandalas), have variously been called hymns, poems or songs by Sanskrit scholars. The Rik (so pronounced by the ancient Angirases clans, or Seer-Priest families) was an experiment with sound. The emphasis is always on sounding the words perfectly. The focus tends to be on the ideas rather than on the authors in Vedic literature, they are largely religious in nature, reflecting the world view and spiritual preoccupations of ancient India.

Story
What is karma? Most people understand karma as a balance sheet of good and bad deeds, virtues and sins. The mechanism that decrees that we cannot evade the consequences of our own actions. In reality, karma has nothing to do with reward and punishment. Karma simply means action: your action, your responsibility. It isn’t some external system of crime and punishment, but an internal cycle generated by you. Accumulation of karma is determined only by your intention and the way you respond to what is happening to you.

Difficulty in understanding the author.
The information is excellent but the pronunciations of many the words being read are difficult to understand. English is no the authors first language. Otherwise well worth listening to this information.

Profound concepts perfect for beginners.
I have been interested in Ayurveda for countless years now but have never tried to dive deeper. This audio is perfect for anyone who is familiar with Ayurveda or is new to the concept. The explanations are thorough and repeated so that you are familiar enough with the individual concepts to understand the big picture and how each aspects of Ayurveda play off of each other in relationship. I’ve never read this book and I don’t think I ever will. This audio book sounded like a sermon or inspiring lecture that I feel can’t be conveyed through text. Highly recommend!

This is a Must Read....Period
Ayurveda is an ancient understanding of human health. Not hard to get a grasp on it and once even understood slightly will aid a person in improving their own health and also the health and happiness of their families and communities. This book is so well explained by Dr. Lad. If everyone understood Ayurved, I think we could completely turn Health around in all industrialized countries and have nations of people living their birthright. As healthy, happy and peaceful. Thank you, Dr. Lad for bringing this information into the light.
