A Reese's Book Club x Hello Sunshine on Audible Pick

"A beautiful novel full of passion, secrets, courage and sacrifice." (Reese Witherspoon)

After the death of her beloved grandmother, a Cuban-American woman travels to Havana, where she discovers the roots of her identity - and unearths a family secret hidden since the revolution

Havana, 1958. The daughter of a sugar baron, 19-year-old Elisa Perez is part of Cuba's high society, where she is largely sheltered from the country's growing political unrest - until she embarks on a clandestine affair with a passionate revolutionary....

Miami, 2017. Freelance writer Marisol Ferrera grew up hearing romantic stories of Cuba from her late grandmother Elisa, who was forced to flee with her family during the revolution. Elisa's last wish was for Marisol to scatter her ashes in the country of her birth. Arriving in Havana, Marisol comes face-to-face with the contrast of Cuba's tropical, timeless beauty and its perilous political climate.

When more family history comes to light and Marisol finds herself attracted to a man with secrets of his own, she'll need the lessons of her grandmother's past to help her understand the true meaning of courage.

Amazing historical fiction book

I’ve had the extreme pleasure of visiting Cuba and this book is a must for anyone thinking of travelling there, anyone like me who has already been and anyone curious about the interesting cultural and political history. Great story wrapped in so much truth.

Simply Wonderful

Knowing very little of the history and culture of Cuba, I fell in love with this story and the beautiful descriptions of Cuba and its people. I will read through the rest of the series!

A mature romance

I have learned how to pronounce kuba not quba. I like the flow of the book and the transitions between grandma and granddaughter. A good listen.

I could image being in Cuba with the characters

Chanel was able to discern the differences in class and put together pieces of history in a beautiful narrative that leads to an understanding what it is to be Cuban.

Love oln unsettled times.

Romance in two time lines laced with the history of an unsettled Cuba. well written, interesting characters, seemingly well researched. i did not enjoy one of the readers. her voice was quite monotone and there was no attempt to give fluxuation or a change it for different speakers OR to reflect emotion. i also had to slow the recording down as it was sometimes difficult to keep up.

Plot Twist!

Great story! Dragged on a little here and there but over all good story about love and the history of Cuba. And the plot twist at the end! BAM! Definitely didn't expect that!!

Beautiful story telling

Loved the narrator. She did a wonderful job expressing the heartache within the story. I could close my eyes and picture Cuba
