We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

The narrator has a limited range of voices and it was a tough not to return this book; but, the story was strong so I stuck with it.

A nice change
I have been listening to a lot of fantasy and litprg and I will say this is the perfect series to get a break from those other genres you know to cleanse the pallet so to speak. This series is remarkable and I would say it is equally as good as the Galaxy's Edge Series. A very well done MC and the side characters are great, the AI characters are a nice comedic break as well, not as good as skippy and no one every is as good as skippy....ever

Not Bad.
Ok.
Not bad at all.
There’s a good chance I’ll listen to the rest of the series.
Starts out good, near the end it gets kinda confusing for plot lines. One has to pay close attention to follow it.
After some start stop listening sessions near the end, was having a difficult time following the plot.
I’d give it a solid. “Nice”, listen but pay attention.

I want to like it
fairly hollow but fun story really let down by the narrator. the number of interactions and conversations where everyone had the same voice, tone, inflection... and I swear a few times they were backwards. towards the end of the book things started falling into place but it shouldn't take me 12 hours to figure out who is talking.

Happy I took a chance on this book
The narrator didn't thrill me at first. He certainly got better. In fairness I just finished listening to a series read by RC Bray. That said, I'm thrilled to have found this and am already listening to the next book.
