About this listen

Traditions run deep….

Most mercenary units fly flags on two flagpoles at their headquarters: one with their unit’s flag, and other bearing the flag of their current employer. However, the Third Regimental Combat Team—a.k.a. the Eridani Light Horse—leaves one flagpole bare, as a reminder of the death of the Star League, and the other pole flies the Light Horse’s unit and regimental flags at half-mast.

What triumphs and tragedies shaped the Eridani Light Horse and its traditions? What drove them to become a force to be reckoned with, an elite mercenary unit with one of the longest histories and the deepest traditions in the Inner Sphere? Now, collected for the first time, nine of BattleTech’s finest authors bring the legacy of this storied unit to life like never before.

Witness the Eridani Light Horse’s origins in the Star League, and follow their evolution all the way through the Succession Wars and the Clan Invasion to their downfall during the Dark Age and their resurrection in the uncertain future of the ilClan era.

great book, needs to be attributed

this is an amazing book. 100% one of my favorite anthologies of all time. But...

THIS BOOK NEEDS TO BE ATTRIBUTED AS PART OF THE BATTLETECH UNIVERS

I'm sure more people would read it if you didn't have to search it by name and could find it amongst the other battletech books on here. God knows how many other battletech books are moldering away in the corners of Audible not being seen because of bad housekeeping on the moderators part.

Good stories, but technical issues don't help

Quality stories but several have various technical issues, some sound poorly recorded others have random volume drops.

Good stories but…

Sound issues could be really distracting as were a number of off key prononciations and the decision to try and use accents for most of the characters was not a good one

short story anthology

series of short stories about the eridani light horse starting in the starleague era all the way up to the new ilclan setting. I liked the one with the jumping thunderbolts (went out and bought the model after haha) and the battle vs the scorpions.

Inconsistent narration quality. Common terms repeatedly mispronounced.

Really not very good. A single narrator would have been a better choice. Someone familiar with the Battletech setting would also have been a major improvement.

Tren Sparks does good work. Thoroughly enjoyed his telling of the Gray Death Legion trilogy. He probably would have improved this book as well.
