About this listen

A woman who's lost everything.

Taylor is looking for peace and quiet away from the memories of all she's lost. A small mountain town where no one knows her seems like the perfect escape.

A man battling the ghosts of his past.

Walker loves his life just the way it is. His town, his family, his brothers in blue. Everything simple and easy - until a chance encounter changes it all.

When Taylor's solitude is interrupted by the rugged cop, they find that the very thing they were avoiding might be just what they both need. As their iron wills clash and passion flares...a killer lurks.

And you never know who might be caught in the crosshairs.

Small town with all the feels

This was such a great start to this series! I am such a fan of Catherine's writing, they are such a comfort read to me and I just get lost in her words. The way in which Catherine captures grief and healing, just leaves you breathless. As anyone who has lost someone can truly relate the the ache that is left behind and the struggle to find yourself and to just take a step forward.

Taylor struggled so much with the loss of her mother, she was determined to never let anyone in, but the more time she spent in Sutter Lake, the harder that became. Walker was this calm and supportive character, he had such patience and never pushed and how he fell in love with Taylor.

As always the suspense in this one was really intriguing and kept me guessing up until the very end! The audio for this one was fantastic, the narrators did such a good job capturing the emotions, and I just couldn't stop listening!

New Author to add to my Favs List

I love how the author built the setting and all the details she uses on her characters. I fell in love with the Cole family and how they welcome Taylor into their fold. I don't normally enjoy suspense filled plots, but it wasn't too long drawn out and it resolved quickly, so I surprisingly enjoyed it. Loving this series so far!

I'm in love with Sutter Lake

This is my first book by Catherine and I'm just so wrapped up in her story I'm never coming out!

Walker and Taylor are a beautiful couple. Their chemistry is undeniable, their love story is engaging and heartfelt. It's just this slow burn that ignites a passion that on the pages that you can't help but devour every single word that Catherine writes. You become so invested in their story and when it's done - you want to be in Sutter Lake. You want to be friends with them, you want to invite them to your house, hang out...they are just that impacting! You want to hang out in this small town, meet all these characters that make up this family by blood and by heart.

I loved that there is a little bit of suspense and a touch of mystery to this story. For me, I find that it adds so much more to the characters and their interactions, when there's that little bit of unpredictability and tension to keep me engaged and not just focusing on all the rosy bits.

Can I just say GRANDMA IRMA! I want her in my family! I will do whatever it takes. Probably one of my top 10 secondary characters ever!

I have to say that Maxine and Aaron are amazing! They pair so well together as Walker and Taylor and just had me enthralled with this story!

I HATE the male narrator’s delivery

I enjoy the story, but male narrator is AWFUL. He ends every sentence with an annoying breathy note. It’s extremely CRINGY!
