Marion "Mike" Menning
About this listen
Marion “Mike” Menning was born on a rural Minnesota farm. His father became disabled during his high school years and Mike and his brothers kept the dairy farm going. He barely graduated from high school, reading at a 2nd/3rd-grade level. After three weeks in college, he fell into a deep depression and went back to the farm. Mike married Dawn, his high school sweetheart, in 1968.
Mike went back to college at age 25. In the next few years, he graduated, started his own business, and was elected to the Minnesota State House. At age 31 he was elected to the State Senate. They were blessed with two wonderful children, a son who is bright and healthy, and a son, born with severe brain damage. After serving in public office and earning a master's degree, Mike went on to serve the Lord in full-time ministry for 35 years. In 2002 Mike and Dawn moved to Utah to serve as the pastor of Mountain Springs Community Church in Salt Lake City. Later he founded one of the first ministries for the polygamist people of Utah. Pastor Menning retired from full-time ministry at age 76 and finished writing the Ambassadors of Jesus trilogy. Together Mike and Dawn walked through deep valleys and experienced mountain peaks. They depended on God through the challenges and blessings of life.
