Publisher's Summary
My name is Roman Cavenaugh and I'm kind of an a--hole. Running a company isn't easy, especially when everyone expects you to fail. So being a jerk? It comes with the territory. I don't have time to mess around, and I sure as hell didn't see her coming.
Cara Hamilton she was supposed to be off limits...a temporary employee brought in during my assistant's maternity leave.
But, in the blink of an eye, she became so much more. An obsession I couldn't shake.
So yeah, I may be an a--hole, but now, I finally had a purpose, and soon, she would be mine.
All's fair in love and war...

The book synopsis is misleading
The story is good, simple meet-cute plot line. Quite straightforward. Bad boy meets nice girl and goes after her even though he thinks he doesn’t deserve her. Good girl sees all the “good” behind the grump and changes his life.
You don’t really get that image from the synopsis provided from the book. It’s misleading- like there’s going to be some D/s kind of relationship or he’ll be a bully. This is not that book at all.
The “tough guy” sees the “good girl” for who she is and doesn’t try to change her at all. So I appreciated that.
Very solid performances bring this together nicely!

for 50 shades fans, perhaps
The writing is good. The story line is okay if well trodden.
The rampant misogyny? Oof.
I have to draw a line when characters can't seem to have friendships with the opposite sex without it getting sexual, and when the male protagonist is so flat and emotionless; i just couldn't finish it.
Kudos to the voice actors though, they sold the characters as written.
