About this listen
I was born in heaven sent through Gabon. My marvelous country located in Western Africa is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon to the north, the Republic of Congo to the east and south. On June 15, 2010, a few months after the presidential election, we decided to leave our paradise because of the catastrophic management of the country and the murder of innocent people, who did not share the new vision.
I left behind my loved ones. I remember the day we left. Our families came to say good-bye. When we were hugging, I was close to changing my mind. And tears filled my eyes like the ocean, full of waves. When we were inside the airplane, all my thoughts, energy, and focus were in the direction of my family. I could see my family wave to me from the window. I was crying and feeling guilty for leaving them in Gabon. I was thinking I was being selfish. But in Gabon at the time, when you went to bed, you could not be sure that you would live to see the next day, because you could get killed any time due to your political opinions. And your family members could also become targets.
When we arrived in this gorgeous land of freedom, the beginning was not easy. It was full of obstacles and failures. And by the grace of the almighty God, we used our failures to prepare for our success. Like Zig Ziglar once said, "If you do what is easy, your life will be hard. But if you do what is hard, your life will be easy." We were not scared of the unknown. This marvelous country gave us a second chance, and all the tools to succeed. We discovered our purpose in this beautiful country. We are so thankful to bring our value to the marketplace and to build in this land of freedom.
