About this listen
I always thought when my time came, I'd just die. No picking door number one or number two. But here I sit at crossroads of choices. Do I accept death, or do I choose to live a life as a creature I once despised?
Twenty-two-year-old Phoenix Brown is the property of the Society: an evil faction under the umbrella of the Illuminati. Her sole purpose is hunting and eliminating vampires—a duty she relishes doing.
When Phoenix follows a lead of an infestation in a small Louisiana town, she partners up with an unlikely ally, the alluring Damián de Soto—a centuries-old vampire. But she can barely tolerate him. He is incorrigible, vain, a flirt, and can't keep his hands to himself. But the huntress swallows her pride and realizes she needs his help to solve the town's increasing murders.
But partnering up with a cocky vampire is asking for trouble. Damián de Soto is starting to melt that cold steel heart of Phoenix's.
Peril brews when clues lead to a suspected werewolf behind the town's rising murders. The clock is ticking away, and Phoenix needs Damián's help more than ever now as she hunts down the sinister creature before it massacres the entire town.
From the author Jo Wilde comes a seductive, heart-throbbing tale that mingles romance, mystery, and vampire lore into an extraordinary listen.

Couldn't Finish It
A decent plot, but with wildly inconsistent characters who all seemed to have frequent extreme mood swings. I thought it was poorly enough written that I was surprised it made it past an editor. The narration seemed pretty clumsy at times too, with the narrator often using a long A sound where a short a should have been used, making the narration sound stilted. I stuck with it longer than I should have but I just couldn’t finish it.
