About this listen
A heart-stopping emotional thriller with a breathtaking twist from the best-selling author of The Happy Couple Samantha Hayes.
January 1992. A baby girl is left alone for a moment. Long enough for a mother to dash into a shop. Long enough for a child to be taken.
Thirteen years later, solicitor Robert Knight's stepdaughter wins a place at a prestigious London school for the gifted. The only puzzle is his wife Erin's reaction. Why is she so reluctant to let Ruby go? Doesn't she want what's best for her? As Erin grows more evasive, Robert can't help but feel she has something to hide and when he stumbles on mysterious letters, he discovers she has been lying to him. Somewhere in his wife's past lies a secret; a shocking secret that threatens to destroy everything....
Thrilling and gripping, Blood Ties will make you ask what dark secrets lie behind your neighbours' closed doors. Perfect listening for anyone who loved The Wife Between Us, The Girl on the Train or Gone Girl.

Great story
Easy to listen to with many twists that I did expect to see coming. Narrator was great. Highly recommend as a mystery type book!

Had potential.
This book was a slow burn..then confusing burn..then it hits you with a curious confusion that provides intrigue ..then more confusion regarding plot lines and time lines .Ultimately it fell flat in logic and the reveal was disappointing.Overall it is a readable book. Not good, not bad..just a story with holes in the plot that never really get filled.

Highly engaging. perfect distraction.
I found this book to be a real page-turner. I was gripped from the beginning and although you have to suspend credibility a little at some of the outcomes I was hooked until the very end. I will certainly look for the next book from Samantha Hayes, she is obviously a very talented writer. I consider this book to be one of the best and most engrossing books I've listened to in a long while and the narration on this one was excellent, with different narrators presenting their perspectives. Well worth a credit, in my opinion.

Great narrator -- not Samantha's Hayes best book
Although this book captured my attention from the beginning, it also had me questioning the actions of the main characters throughout the book. Some of their decisions made on assumptions were ridiculous -- especially Robert the lawyer. Some of the sub plots were left hanging and in my opinion did not matter to the book -- the almost relationship alluded to between Robert & Louisa did not have any bearing in my mind on the whole premise of the book. There was enough going on in the book with a kidnapped baby and the life Erin lead as a teenager without adding in this tidbit.
The father/daughter relationship between Robert & 13 year old Ruby seemed implausible as his courtship with her mother Erin was so short and they had only been married a short time and she was already calling him Dad. Even some of the things that Robert dealt with, with Ruby seemed a bit over the top.
The ending was ok. The book ended as I thought it would.
I loved the narrator.

Good listen.
I didn't give the book 5 stars because I did find it a bit confusing at times. It is narrated from different people's viewpoints and I wasn't always sure who was speaking. the narrator didn't use different voices for the main characters. The story was a bit silly at times as well.
